Zenless Zone Zero Alice: The Soft and Adorable Rabbit Thiren
I wonder if all Proxies have now concluded Zenless Zone Zero's Summer Festival? Alice in the storyline is truly a sight I never get tired of! But today, let us closely observe the utterly adorable Alice even in her normal state. Perhaps due to the sweltering heat of midsummer, this version feels exceptionally long. Without further ado, let us explore Alice's charm!
1. Zenless Zone Zero Alice - "Academy Maiden"
As a prestigious noble, the young lady Alice has always harbored unspoken troubles. Fortunately, she met Yuzuha, encountered Spook Shack, and finally found kinship with all of us. Alice and Yuzuha, as a slowly drawn-together "CP," promised to walk forward hand in hand. Their costume designs also share common elements.
Yuzuha, as a whimsical girl, wears vibrant Japanese-style school attire. Alice's outfit leans closer to traditional Western academy uniforms. Compared to Yuzuha's lively, flamboyant palette, Alice's attire appears far more solemn and formal—truly, one's personality reflects in their fashion.

Alice's top features a white shirt paired with a black satin ribbon bow, with every button securely fastened. On the upper arms, both sides of Alice are adorned with shield-shaped leather accessories, likely resembling Western academic emblems. Heraldic emblems originated from medieval family crests, used by knights for identification. They symbolize protection and nobility, typically composed of a shield, supporters, a crest, and a motto. To this day, they serve as hereditary markers for individuals, military units, religious institutions, and corporations, embodying the science and art of display and regulation.

For the lower body, Alice wears a classic pleated skirt with black stockings. The most eye-catching element is the Mood Display at her waist. Its expressive design further reveals Alice’s inner feelings, amplifying her cuteness—a refined evolution of trigger-color mood indicators. In terms of styling, this small mechanical device also functions as a corset. Alice’s waistline appears strikingly elevated, accentuating her waist-to-hip ratio—a mainstream aesthetic in Western fashion for centuries.
Moving downward, the classic black stockings showcase Alice as the one who defies miHoYo’s asymmetry principle. Even the thigh straps on her stockings are meticulously mirrored, adding visual layering to her legs. Her footwear consists of techwear-inspired sneakers.
From head to toe, Alice’s outfit forms a fascinating composition. This design externalizes the essence of a noble heiress: not delicate opulence, but dynamic athleticism.

Alice's hair also has noteworthy details. The clasps at the hair ends resemble the common adjustment clasps on modern sportswear, theoretically allowing Alice to freely adjust her hair length. The two large spheres labeled "Alice," however, are particularly intriguing.
Initially mistaken for noble adornments like pearls, they actually relate to Alice's early design drafts. Her initial weapon concepts included both long-range and close-combat golf clubs, reflecting upper-class sports culture. Thus, these hair ornaments likely originated as golf ball motifs.
The final weapon evolved into an elegant retractable carbon fiber rapier, emphasizing precision and power. Surprisingly, the back accessory doubles as a storage unit for spare rapiers—essentially a portable 3D printer. This allows instant blade replacement; in her swimsuit outfit, it even transforms into a compact grill. Such ingenuity highlights the ZZZ development team's boundless creativity.

Regarding the retractable rapier, an amusing meme exists: During the resort event's counterattack phase, encouraged by players, Alice delivers a line identical to Polnareff's iconic dialogue in JOJO. Coincidentally, Polnareff's Stand also masters exquisite rapier techniques
2. Zenless Zone Zero Alice - "Even Rabbits Bite When Cornered"
As an exceptionally adorable Thiren, Alice's agile movements have captured many hearts. Her design draws from the Netherland Dwarf rabbit, known for its sensitivity, expressive demeanor, and nimbleness—traits Alice perfectly embodies. These petite creatures are both highly timid and acutely perceptive, qualities reflected in Alice's character.
In combat, her dodge-counter showcases the iconic "rabbit kicking a hawk" maneuver, mimicking rabbits' defensive moves against predators.

A subtle detail: Alice's profile icon features not only her portrait but also the Cygnus constellation in the background. Resembling a large cross, Cygnus is often called the "Northern Cross"—a name shared with her EX Special Attack.
Cygnus ties into the Greek myth linked to Proxies' name "Phaethon": After Phaethon was struck down by Zeus while driving the sun chariot, his grieving friend Cygnus transformed into a swan to search for Phaethon's body in the Milky Way. The constellation's name honors this tale.

Naturally, the swan's symmetrical form aligns with Alice's obsessive symmetry. The development team integrated this aesthetic into combat: while other agents' Ultimate effects tilt dynamically, Alice's pentagram remains perfectly centered on screen, highlighting meticulous design.

3. Zenless Zone Zero Alice - "The Fragrant Thiren"
Perhaps because rabbits are herbivores, or perhaps as a noble lady, she always carries a unique fragrance. Alice's connection to flowers and plants is easily overlooked. Her surname "Thymefield" is not only a fictional noble name but literally means "field of thyme"—the inspiration for her swimsuit design.

Alice's Mindscape 6, titled "A Heart of Thyme," reveals thyme as embodying her spirit. Thyme's rich aroma makes it a prized herb, honey source, and ancient seasoning. As early as 3000 BC, Greeks used it in cooking; Roman soldiers wore thyme embroidered on cloaks to repel insects and neutralize snake venom.
Thyme symbolizes "courage," also called "Provence's Grace." In Greek myth, Aphrodite wept over the Trojan War's brutality, and her tears became thyme's delicate leaves. A 16th-century bard dubbed thyme "Dawn's Paradise," representing Alice's courage: to face the unknown, confront her past, and live resiliently.

Beyond thyme, Alice's Mindscapes feature other botanical motifs. Mindscape 1, "Palmful of Cilantro," references cilantro—a herb symbolizing the "lonely long-distance runner," embodying tenacious yet solitary vitality. Mindscape 2, "Sage at the Sword's Tip," depicts sage with its downy stems and feathery leaves covered in soft hairs, reminiscent of a rabbit's lush fur. Sage's floral meaning conveys family devotion and unity; though Alice's father has passed, the love nurtured within her family continues to inspire her.
Mindscape 4, "Rosemary on Her Lips," positions rosemary as an emblem of fidelity in love and friendship, while its flower language signifies remembrance. Historically dubbed the "beacon of the sea," rosemary's potent fragrance guided lost sailors to shore. Each plant thus mirrors a virtue resonant with Alice's character.

Notably, all plants except cilantro belong to the Lamiaceae family, renowned for aromatic oils. Truly, Alice is a fragrant little rabbit you'd want to hug and inhale!
