ZZZ Version 3.2 Role Status: New Specialties keep expanding, the Defen

Zenless Zone Zero has reached Version 3.2. The performance of each role in the current version has changed quite a bit from before. Today we will review the current status of each role in Version 3.2 of ZZZ, so Proxies can see which roles are more popular and more worth building and using.

DPS Role Overview

Attack

The Attack track has welcomed many new members recently. Although DPS roles have now split into the two major tracks of Rupture and Armorer, Attack character updates haven't stopped. 3.0's free DPS Pyrois outclassed almost all main DPS units from before 2.0, with great cost-performance; and 3.1's Sigrid is a low-investment stat monster, making her the most worthwhile Attack DPS to pull right now.

There are also two veterans, Seed and Ye Shunguang. Seed is very strong after getting support from Cissia, and can perform if given an Electric-weakness environment. Ye Shunguang, as a Void Hunter, basically doesn't take teammates from other systems, and is likewise a main DPS for most players. These four Attack characters are all frequently used right now, which is thriving.

Anomaly

Since Velina and Remielle appeared, ZZZ has entered an era ruled by Anomaly. The Velina + Remielle system has top-tier damage, and the team can also be freely swapped, giving it nearly universal employment in all environments — truly impressive.

The regular Anomaly system is also not weak. With Nangong Yu and Yuzuha as supports, whether it's Miyabi and Yanagi, who can only pair with the traditional Anomaly system, or Aria and Promeia, who need to work in the second team, their performance is decent. Although Velina-Remielle is significantly stronger, the game sometimes gives dual-Anomaly environments — after all, they can't just let players who pulled Nangong Yu and Yuzuha quit the game.

Rupture

A new role introduced in Season 2 of ZZZ, Rupture is a HP-scaling DPS that ignores the DEF multiplier, performs very well against high-DEF bosses, and is still fairly active in the current environment. However, its problems are quite noticeable — it struggles against high-HP, low-DEF enemies, the Rupture system is very rigid, having one of the several Rupture DPS carries is enough, with little flexibility, and it's unlikely to see a new Rupture environment later.

Armorer

A new role introduced in Season 3 of ZZZ, Armorer is a DEF-scaling DPS with double crit calculation, but compared with Rupture, it's basically just a separate track for main DPS units that need DEF substats, with no big difference from the Attack role. Since the Armorer role just launched, there aren't many mature teammate choices — the Stun slot basically only has the not-yet-mature Norma and Koleda. Later, as the Armorer system keeps improving, it's expected to become the main force for some time.

Functional Roles Overview

Stun

The Stun role currently mainly relies on the three core picks: Norma, Dialyn, and Nangong Yu. Different teams and different needs call for different Stunners. In terms of cost-effectiveness, Koleda and Lycaon are also solid budget choices that hold their value. Since Daze burst is a crucial damage-dealing flow in ZZZ, the quality of Stun characters matters a lot. Except for Anomaly teams, every other system basically needs a Stunner, and you can even run double Stun depending on the situation.

Support

As the main buff-centered role in ZZZ, limited Support characters are basically must-have units as soon as they release. Astra Yao from the 1.0 era is still working, and Yuzuha and Lucia from the 2.0 era are the same. Although Sunna is slightly less universal, she is at least Ye Shunguang's fixed teammate and can still find stable usage. The limited Support from the 3.0 era hasn't been released yet, but once it arrives, another wave of strength increase is expected.

Defense

As DEF-scaling DPS split into the Armorer role, the signal of Defense's rise has died down again. Currently, aside from Zhao, who has a stable job as Ye Shunguang's dedicated support, the mechanics of other Defense characters are really all over the place, and most of them serve as lower-tier options for the Support role. The Defense role still hasn't carved out its own path.

Currently, the performance of the four main DPS roles is quite good. Attack is stable, Anomaly is top-tier, Rupture is a bit weak but still has its foundation, and Armorer has a promising future.
