ZZZ Season 2 Character Review and Tier Ranking

by ZZZLucien 01 Jul 2026

Zenless Zone Zero has entered Version 3.0, but the Season 2 characters remain the absolute main force. Today, we'll take you through a review of how Season 2 characters performed and see where these characters stand after their debut in Season 2.

Overall Evaluation of ZZZ Season 2 Characters

ZZZ Season 2 Character Tier Rank

Season 2 characters have always emphasized team synergies, so most of them are system-oriented characters rather than versatile picks. Being in the same system isn't scary — what's awkward is being the weak link. As things stand, only four characters from Season 2 can be considered top-tier, while five are strong. The total number of characters in the top two tiers equals that of the lower three tiers, showing that most characters are fairly useful.

"S-Tier" Character Analysis

Yixuan, Ye Shunguang

Zenless Zone Zero Yixuan

Yixuan and Ye Shunguang, as Void Hunter-class master and apprentice, are clearly the most outstanding main DPS of the entire Season 2. There's no need to elaborate on Ye Shunguang — she remains the strongest all-around main DPS to this day. Although Yixuan's stats aren't as exaggerated, as the opening character of Version 2.0, she has remained a must-pick in most content until now. This alone proves the contribution of these two to clearing Deadly Assault.

Dialyn, Nangong Yu

Zenless Zone Zero Dialyn

In the current era where Support characters reign supreme, the ones ranked at the top are two Stun-support hybrids. This shows just how strong these two Stun characters are. Dialyn, with her forced Ultimate mechanic, has become a must-have Stunner for most direct-damage teams, performing exceptionally well in lineups with main DPS like Yixuan and Ye Shunguang.

Zenless Zone Zero Nangong Yu

Nangong Yu is equally outstanding. At 0+0, she already outperforms most Anomaly sub-DPS units, and she possesses arguably the most absurd Cinema 2 in the game. She performs at the highest level in Anomaly teams. However, with Remielle arriving next version, Nangong Yu's team-building options will be severely compressed.

"A-Tier" Character Analysis

Ukinami Yuzuha, Lucia, Zhao

Zenless Zone Zero Ukinami Yuzuha

Three support characters. Yuzuha is an exclusive support for Anomaly teams, while Lucia is an exclusive support for Life Break teams. If you want to play those systems, Yuzuha and Lucia are the best-in-slot supports you need — extremely high value.

Zenless Zone Zero Zhao

As for Zhao, she is a free gift designed as an exclusive support for Ye Shunguang. Even at 0 cost, she performs excellently, and investing in her up to 0+1 or even 1+1 gives her great long-term value. Quite impressive.

Aria, Promeia

Zenless Zone Zero Aria

Aria's individual strength is certainly not low. With her extremely high stats, she nearly broke the monopoly of Void Hunters Miyabi and Yixuan. Although she has been "suppressed" by the environment afterward, she still had plenty of standout moments. Currently, she pairs very well with Velina.

Zenless Zone Zero Promeia

Promeia has been designed with Version 3.0 in mind since her release. In Version 2.8, she was already strong enough. Now in Version 3.0, with Velina's support, she has become the strongest Anomaly main DPS, thanks to better stats and an extremely simple playstyle.

"B-Tier" Character Analysis

Yidhari, Sunna, Cissia

Zenless Zone Zero Yidhari

Yidhari's strength is honestly not low — her performance at low investment is stronger than Yixuan. After Yidhari's release, there were even many dual-Rupture environments, so she had a good time dominating. Although Yidhari no longer has her own specialized environment now, and Rupture's job opportunities have been squeezed back to one team, it has to be admitted that Yidhari paid off well during those versions.

Zenless Zone Zero Sunna

As the only support for Angels of Delusion, Sunna's main role right now is to slot into Ye Shunguang's team. But Ye Shunguang can also use Dialyn instead, and if you have neither, you can pick Zhao or Astra Yao. Right now, Sunna is the most awkward member of Angels of Delusion.

Zenless Zone Zero Cissia

Cissia's strength is very high, and with her excellent stats, she single-handedly rescued Seed from the gutter. Unfortunately, she arrived too late. Also, Cissia is designed as a sub-DPS — while she can act as a main DPS, it's not very effective. As a sub-DPS, she doesn't have many suitable teams, so she can't be rated higher.

"C-Tier" Character Analysis

Pan Yinhu, Seed, Starlight - Billy Kid

Pan Yinhu, as an A-rank character, served as Yixuan's only support before Lucia's release. Pan Yinhu's stats were already quite good. Although he retired quickly after Lucia came out, he did his job and bowed out with honor.

Zenless Zone Zero Seed

Seed's current strength is already very high. However, he had to wait five major versions for Cissia as his power-up. By the time he finally got his qualitative leap, players were already widely using Ye Shunguang as their Attack main DPS.

Zenless Zone Zero Starlight - Billy Kid

Starlight - Billy Kid is the closing main DPS of Season 2. His stats have surpassed Yixuan's. But unfortunately, he arrived too late, and his niche is overshadowed by Ye Shunguang. Under the pressure of two Void Hunter-level main DPS units, he ends up as background noise.

"D-Tier" Character Analysis

Ju Fufu, Komano Manato, Banyue

Zenless Zone Zero Ju Fufu

Harsh review of Ju Fufu. As the opening character of Version 2.0, Ju Fufu's Cinema 0 stats are similar to Trigger's. For Yixuan, Cinema 0 Ju Fufu is even worse than Qingyi; you need Cinema 1 to match Qingyi's performance. The pulling cost is high. Then in Version 2.4, she was kicked into the gutter by Dialyn. Players who pulled Ju Fufu in Version 2.0 really lost badly.

Komano Manato, as an A-rank Rupture character, has an inherent stat gap compared to S-rank. That's not Manato's fault. From a meta perspective, when most players want to build a Rupture team, their first choice is undoubtedly a limited S-rank main DPS — Manato doesn't get a turn.

Zenless Zone Zero Banyue

Lastly, Banyue. Banyue's strength is not low, but to achieve the same effect as other Rupture characters, Banyue requires more effort in practice. Her practical margin for error is also quite low, making her unsuitable for most players. If you really want to play a Rupture team, Banyue is clearly the bottom Rupture character and can only be given a D-Tier ranking.

That wraps up our full character tier ranking for Zenless Zone Zero Season 2. Does it meet your expectations? Remember to keep following our articles and in-game events. See you next time!
