ZZZ Velina: W-Engine, Drive Disc & Team Recommendations

by ZZZLucien 23 Jun 2026

Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.0 is now officially live. We’re sure Velina — the Wind anomaly sub-DPS — has already brought plenty of surprises. So, how should you build her? Today we’ve put together a full Velina growth guide: W-Engine, Drive Discs, skill upgrades, team comps — the whole maintenance package, all in this article.

W-Engine Recommendations

Joyau Dore > Flamethrower Shaker > Fusion Compiler > Electro-Lip Gloss = Weeping Gemini > Boisterous Echoes

ZZZ Velina W-Engine

Unlike other anomaly W-Engines, Velina's signature W-Engine provides Energy Regen as its secondary stat, which perfectly complements her mechanic of converting automatic energy regen into damage and Anomaly Mastery. It is the only W-Engine that allows Velina to fully utilize her passives. Therefore, for Velina, the signature's automatic energy regen not only optimizes her rotation but also effectively compensates for a significant amount of numerical value.

Joyau Dore W-Engine Effects

① Anomaly Proficiency Bonus

Unconditionally grants Velina 70 Anomaly Proficiency, enhancing Velina's personal damage output.

② "Vortex" and "Windswept" Damage Increase

Increasing [Vortex] and [Windswept] damage effectively boosts the entire team's overall damage. Stacks up to 2 times for a 14% damage bonus — a very rare buff with high value.

③ Team-wide Anomaly Proficiency Bonus

Still a team-wide functional enhancement. Stacking [Vortex] and [Windswept] damage to 2 layers grants the entire team 60 Anomaly Proficiency. As a sub-DPS, this W-Engine maximizes Velina's team contribution.

Should You Pull Velina's Signature W-Engine "Joyau Dore"?

As the opening character of Version 3.0, the raw stats on Velina's signature are genuinely impressive — it pumps her personal damage while simultaneously amplifying the whole team, making it one of the most worth-pulling class of upgrades. So purely as a high-value W-Engine, Joyau Dore is the top priority under normal circumstances.

ZZZ Velina Mindscape Cinema

That said, Velina's Cinema I and Cinema II are also strong. When allocating your pulls, you inevitably face the "0+1 vs 1+0" question. On pure numbers, the signature W-Engine's boost clearly beats Cinema I. However, Cinema I adds Daze capability on top of damage — in certain scenarios, you needthat Daze to lock in a reliable 3-Daze cycle, and there the value of Cinema I dwarfs running 0-Cinema without that extra Daze.

What Other W-Engines Are Usable?

Flamemaker Shaker (Limited S-rank)

Burnice's signature W-Engine. Although its secondary stat doesn't provide off-field Energy Regen, as a limited S-rank disc, its base stats far exceed those of most standard W-Engines. Optimizing the Enhanced Special Skill rotation is also an important function. Additionally, it provides Velina with DMG Bonus and Anomaly Proficiency, making it the next-best option after her signature. If you don't have her signature, give this one to Velina.

Fusion Compiler (Standard S-rank)

Grace's signature W-Engine. It provides Velina with PEN Ratio, ATK, and Anomaly Proficiency stats. Although it lacks Energy Regen, the Fusion Compiler requires stacking via Special Skills and Enhanced Special Skills, which aligns well with Velina's playstyle.

Therefore, the Fusion Compiler, which boosts PEN Ratio, ATK, and Anomaly Proficiency across the board, is roughly on par with the Flamemaker Shaker and is also one of Velina's best alternative options. At high refinement, it can even outperform the Flamemaker Shaker.

Boisterous Echoes (Event A-rank)

The event W-Engine from Version 3.0. Its mechanic fits Velina very well — triggering [Vortex] restores Energy. While it doesn't contribute to the core passive's Energy-to-Model conversion, optimizing the rotation is still a solid choice. Additionally, it increases damage against enemies in an anomaly state. Once the Wind attribute is applied, this effect essentially has full uptime. If you don't have the signature or an S-rank substitute, just wait and use this event W-Engine.

Electro-Lip Gloss (Battle Pass A-rank)

As a Battle Pass W-Engine, Electro-Lip Gloss has always been a well-rounded option. Its secondary stat provides Anomaly Proficiency, while its effect grants ATK and DMG Bonus — all solid base multipliers. It's a decent alternative choice.

Drive Disc Recommendations

Set: Wuthering Salon 4 + Energy Regen/Proficiency 2

Zenless Zone Zero Wuthering Salon

For the 4-piece set, Wuthering Salon is obviously the only choice as Velina's dedicated set — other anomaly Drive Disc sets can't fully utilize their effects. Wuthering Salon 4 provides 50 Anomaly Proficiency and 28% DMG Bonus, which is solid stat-wise. Make sure to farm a set during Version 3.0, or else you'll be overwhelmed when Remielle possibly gets another set in Version 3.1.

Zenless Zone Zero Velina Drive Disc

For the 2-piece set, Moonlight Lullaby 2 and Swing Jazz 2 (both granting Energy Regen) are the optimal choices. With this setup and her signature W-Engine, Velina reaches exactly 2.88 Energy Regen per second to fully convert into model stats. However, if you have good substat rolls on proficiency 2-piece sets like Freedom Blues 2 or Chaos Jazz 2, those are also fine alternatives — go with proficiency if you lack Energy Regen.

Main Stats

Slot 4: Anomaly Proficiency

Slot 5: Wind Attribute DMG Bonus% / PEN Ratio%

Slot 6: Energy Regen%

Velina has a very high conversion ratio from Energy Regen to model stats, so Slot 6 is locked to Energy Regen. Slot 4, as usual, is tied to Anomaly Proficiency. For Slot 5, flexibly choose between Wind DMG Bonus and PEN Ratio. ATK% is not recommended mainly because it costs you a potential substat roll — though if you have a high-proficiency ATK% piece, it's still usable.

Substats

Anomaly Proficiency > ATK > PEN Value

Standard substat priority for anomaly characters — nothing much to analyze here, so we won't go into detail.

Velina Skill Priority

Special Skill > Support Skill > Chain Attack > Basic Attack > Dodge

Zenless Zone Zero Velina Skill

Velina's skill priority is very clear. Special Skill must be leveled to 12. Support Skill is recommended at 11, and for those aiming for high scores, level 12 is advised. Chain Attack can be left at 11. Basic Attack and Dodge have relatively low usage frequency. Basic Attack still sees occasional use, so leveling it to 7 is sufficient, while Dodge can be left completely unleveled.

Team Recommendations

Promeia Abloom Team

ZZZ Velina & Promeia Team

Promeia + Velina + Ukinami Yuzuha / Nangong Yu

Velina's most fitting main DPS right now is Promeia. Promeia's high-frequency Abloom pairs perfectly with Velina's extended anomaly uptime. This is Promeia's newest top-tier lineup, letting Velina secure a spot alongside Nangong Yu and Ukinami Yuzuha.

Aria Abloom Team

ZZZ Velina & Aria Team

Aria + Velina + Ukinami Yuzuha / Nangong Yu

Velina's extended Wind anomaly frees Aria from her previously strict rotation requirements, making her playstyle more flexible and smoother to execute. Additionally, Aria already boasts extremely high base stats, and this reinforcement significantly raises her floor, allowing even average players to unlock her true potential.

Jane Assault Team

ZZZ Velina & Jane Doe Team

Jane + Velina + Ukinami Yuzuha / Nangong Yu

Jane has received a significant boost in the new version. Due to the nature of the Vortex mechanic, Physical attribute Vortex can also benefit from Jane's Assault crits, resulting in impressive damage output. Although Jane herself is somewhat lacking, she becomes viable with Velina's arrival.

Other Anomaly Characters

Zenless Zone Zero Anomaly Characters

As for other anomaly characters, either their personal mechanics can't fully benefit from Velina's synergy, or their stats are simply insufficient. That's why they weren't recommended in the team section. However, Velina still provides a boost to characters like Alice, Yanagi, and Burnice — it's just not worth pulling her specifically for them.

Summary

That wraps up the full build guide for Velina. Every Proxy reading this should now have everything you need to build a perfect, endgame-ready Velina. Got any other questions or thoughts on building Velina? Remember to keep following our articles and in-site merchandise. See you next time!
