ZZZ Phoenix Build Guide: W-Engine & Drive Discs & Team Comp Recommendations

by ZZZLucien 26 Oct 2026

Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 has finally been updated, and Phoenix, the new-era driver of the Velina/Dan core, has officially launched with it. I believe many Proxies have already snapped up this perfectly adorable second strongest fighter of Krampus.

So what build details does Phoenix have, and how do you raise her to the highest strength? Today we bring you a all-around build guide for Phoenix, with gear, skill leveling and team comps all covered.

ZZZ Phoenix

W-Engine Recommendations

Plume of Rebirth > Angel in the Shell > Weeping Gemini > Frostfall Sickle = Neon Fantasies

ZZZ Phoenix W-Engine Recommendation

Drive Disc Recommendations

4-piece: Freedom Blues / Chaos Jazz / Feathered Fate

ZZZ Phoenix Drive Disc Recommendation

Normally, Freedom Blues is Phoenix's only and strongest set. The 2-piece provides Anomaly Proficiency, and the 4-piece lowers enemies' Anomaly Buildup RES. Phoenix herself has an automatic EX Special Attack, so the coverage is very high.

Freedom Blues can cover both damage and Anomaly. As long as your execution is on point, you generally won't waste buildup. Some rotations go for higher damage and don't strictly need such high Anomaly frequency; in that case you can bring a Chaos Jazz or Feathered Fate with good substats.

2-piece: Phaethon's Melody

ZZZ Phaethon's Melody

For the 2-piece there is no other choice. Phoenix strictly needs Anomaly Mastery, so Phaethon's Melody is the only option.

Main Stats

Slot 4: Anomaly Proficiency

Slot 5: Fire DMG / PEN Ratio

Slot 6: Anomaly Mastery

Phoenix strictly needs Anomaly Mastery, so slot 6 is locked to Anomaly Mastery as the main stat. Slot 4 needs no discussion and is fixed to Anomaly Proficiency, while for slot 5 you just pick whichever of Fire DMG and PEN Ratio has the better substats.

Substats

Anomaly Proficiency > ATK > PEN

For substats, Phoenix follows the traditional Anomaly build logic: stack Anomaly Proficiency as the main priority, then ATK%, and rolls that drift onto PEN or flat ATK still have some value.

Phoenix Skill Leveling

Basic Attack > Special Attack = Chain Attack > Assist > Dodge

ZZZ Phoenix Skill

Phoenix's Basic Attack is her most core damage tool and also affects the Abloom multiplier, so it is the skill to prioritize, and it is recommended to max it out. Special Attack and Chain Attack also matter quite a bit, so it is recommended to level them to 11, and if resources are sufficient you can max them at 12. Assist and Dodge are used less often: leveling Assist to 7 or above is enough, and Dodge can be left unleveled.

Team Comp Recommendations

Phoenix's kit is basically tailor-made for the Velina/Dan core, so in terms of team comps the main thing is to pair her with Velina/Dan. Second, although she has the ability to form a standard Anomaly team, that priority is not as high as the older Anomaly teams.

Phoenix/Velina/Dan

ZZZ Phoenix Team Comp

Phoenix + Velina + Remielle

Currently Phoenix's best and standard lineup. The Velina/Dan core has received its final piece and reached peak strength, and it is foreseeable that the next few versions will all be an era of continued Velina/Dan dominance.

Phoenix Anomaly Team

Zenless Zone Zero Phoenix Anomaly Team

Phoenix + Velina/Vivian + Ukinami Yuzuha/Nangong Yu

When forming a standard Anomaly team, Phoenix needs Anomaly teammates to help trigger her Core Passive, so the Nangong/Yuzuha combo cannot be brought. For the sub-DPS, choose Velina or Vivian; for the support, either Ukinami Yuzuha or Nangong Yu works.

That is the all-around build guide for Phoenix. I believe every Proxy, after reading this, can raise a perfectly built Phoenix. Do you still have questions or views about building Phoenix? Remember to keep following our site's merchandise and articles. See you next time!
