Zenless Zone Zero Caesar's Character Design Details
As proxies sets foot on the Outer Ring, we are introduced to Zenless Zone Zero version 1.2. In the course of learning about the Sons of Calydon we were introduced to their leader, Caesar King, a brave but girlish female character. After learning about Caesar's story in the game, are you curious what details were hidden in the design of this character? Let's find out!

1. "Caesar" in Zenless Zone Zero
A historical figure who in reality shares the same name as Caesar King in Zenless Zone Zero is the Great Roman Emperor, "Caesar".
Caesar as we know him was a brilliant military man, politician and writer. He defeated Pompey in the Roman Civil War and became the dictator of the Roman Republic. He laid a solid foundation for the establishment of the Roman Empire, and was later celebrated as "Julius Caesar". Because of his political and military achievements, "Caesar" became not just a name but a synonym for monarch and leader.

The fact that Caesar's name has both "Caesar" and "King" in it is a clear indication of Caesar's position among the Sons of Calydon.
Another funny thing about the name "Caesar" is that Lucy once joked to Caesar, "You're as simple as your name, as simple as the salad...". This was actually a reference to a dish that exists in reality, "Caesar Salad". This salad is known for its simple and fresh ingredients and its unique dressing. But the inventor of this dish was not the "Julius Caesar" as we call him, but a Mexican chef named "Caesar Cardini".
2. Caesar King's Appearance and Attire
Caesar King's head has two large four-pointed stars at the back, which look like bull horns from the front. It can be interpreted as an allusion to Caesar's stubborn and straightforward character. However, the sharp points of the horns also give people a sense of danger and distance. These feelings fit Caesar's identity as the leader of Sons of Calydon.

But it's worth noting that the decoration on Caesar's head doesn't actually stand alone. In the boar motif on the dress behind Caesar. Two four-pointed stars identical to those on Caesar's head also exist in front of the boar's head. We might venture a guess as to whether these two four-mandarin stars were accessories to Caesar's father's crown and were worn as relics on Caesar's head.

In addition to the two large four-pointed stars on the back of his head, Caesar wears a hairpin consisting of three small four-pointed stars. These three four-pointed stars also appear on Caesar's belt, shield, and leather shoulders. This seems to be a very important element and is related to the real Triumvirate. The Triumvirate is the political alliance of Caesar, Pompey and Crassus. So perhaps there are two other unseen core members of Outer Ring who are helping Caesar rule Outer Ring. Evidence of this is the four-pointed star element displayed separately on both Lucy's and Lighter's chests and gloves. Of course, these are only reasonable assumptions at this point, which we'll continue to analyze later when we get to her weapons.

In addition to the four-pointed star hairpin, Caesar also wears a small hairpin and a necklace with the word "KING" on it. The messages that are revealed seem to reflect Caesar's sometimes flamboyant character.
Further down is a fur cape fused with a leather jacket. The black fur and cape might remind some cordwainers of Game of Thrones character Jon Snow, and the cape's two metal connecting points have a very ancient Roman warrior feel.

The red shirt worn in the innermost part of the shirt not only clashes with the black hue of the entire body, adding a sense of style and colorfulness, but also echoes the main color of the Sons of Calydon. And if you look closely you'll notice that all the characters in the Sons of Calydon have red clothing or jewelry around their necks. The villains in the game have also mentioned that they are sensitive to red scarves, and that Billy worked for the Sons of Calydon. This suggests that the Sons of Calydon are characterized by the red scarf around their necks.

Caesar's lower half of her attire is slightly simpler compared to his upper half. Long socks and knee pads were paired while highlighting healthy leg muscles.
3. Caesar King's Weapon Designs
Caesar King wields a sword and a round shield. The sword is called "VENI" and the round shield is called "VIDI". The names of the weapons correspond to the slogans of the Sons of Calydon.
VENI and VIDI are from a letter written by Julius Caesar to the Senatus after he conquered the kingdom of Pentheus. In reality, the letter reads "veni, vidi, vici", which translates into English as "I came, I saw, I conquered". The prototypes of the sword and shield are the Gladius short sword and the Parma round shield used by ancient Roman warriors.

Let's take a look at the details of the weapons; Caesar's sword incorporates elements of a biker's handlebar, with a pronounced brake grip and oil jugs. The shield, on the other hand, upon closer inspection can be seen to have been converted from a biker tire.
The shield has a large K written on it, which can be interpreted as the "King" in Caesar's name. What is interesting is that the letter K is next to the spade pattern that is often seen in poker. In Poker cards, the K of different suits corresponds to different historical figures. Among them, the K of spades corresponds to King David, while the K of diamonds represents Caesar. So above we would have guessed that the Quadrangle represents the diamonds in playing cards. And the spades on the weapon clearly represent the former owner of this weapon, Caesar's father.

Notably, the shield also has a design on it that matches the helmet Lucy wears. This likely represents a longstanding connection between Caesar's father and Lucy's family. Could this indicate that Caesar's chance encounter with Lucy was no coincidence? Perhaps we'll only find out when Zenless Zone Zero's story is slowly refined.

These are all the details and stories about Caesar King, and proxies can find that there are still a lot of secrets about Caesar that we can't answer. Maybe in the future these questions will be solved with the release. If you like Caesar, please don't miss the Caesar banner!
