1. About the Cross Mount

Due to the differences in keyboard switch types, repeated insertion and removal may cause wear on the cross mount of the switch. Even slight wear on the cross can lead to varying degrees of looseness in the keycap.

Therefore, it is important to maintain the cross mount properly. Do not forcibly install keycaps that do not fit the switch size, and avoid using forceful tools to stretch the cross mount of the keycap, as this may cause unnecessary damage.

2. Keycap Installation Method

All the keycaps in our store are compatible with cross-mount switches. However, different manufacturers may have slightly different cross mount sizes. If you encounter issues with fitting the keycap onto the switch, you can soften the keycap by heating the stem (soak the keycap in 60-70°C warm water for 15 seconds, then remove and align it with the switch, or use a hairdryer to blow hot air on the stem for 15 seconds to soften and reshape it).

3. About Surface Polishing

Most custom keycaps are polished manually one by one. It is difficult to achieve perfection in each keycap, and some may have slight imperfections, scratches, or uneven shine. The polished mirror-like surface of keycaps is the result of multiple processes. If you find minor scratches on the keycap after receiving it, we ask for your understanding.

4. About Resin Craftsmanship

Multi-layered, multi-color keycaps rely on molds, which are created by sculpting clay or 3D printing the keycap prototype. A silicone mold is then made to cast the final product. For each keycap, the mold must be filled multiple times, and each filling may use a different color. The more colors and intricate the design, the higher the time and cost involved. During production, issues such as bubbles and impurities may arise. The multi-layered production process and its difficulty make resin keycaps among the most expensive to make. Consequently, the prices are also higher.
