Zenless Zone Zero Promeia: The Falsely Restrained Ice Beauty

by ZZZLucien 13 May 2026

After watching the Version 3.0 Special Program PV, I believe everyone is eagerly waiting! But let's not rush just yet. There are still two captivating Agents awaiting our in-depth appreciation. Today, let's take a good look at the design sensibility behind this unapproachable "iceberg," the Krampus Compliance Authority Agent with hands restrained—Promeia.

Promeia - Appearance and Color Palette

Upon first seeing Promeia, it's often said that the eyes are the window to the soul. When concealed, a pathway to glimpse the soul is naturally lost. The single remaining eye, revealing no warmth or emotion, gives a sense of immense depth and mystery. Promeia's official artwork has no flashy effects or flamboyant poses. Relying solely on a confident, turned back and a sideways glance, it conveys a suffocating sense of destiny. All emotions are suppressed beneath a cold exterior, with only traces of fragility leaking through the details.

The main color palette of her entire outfit is dominated by deep navy blue and silvery-black. In color psychology, blue represents both calmness and rationality, as well as melancholy, loneliness, and precision, fitting a character burdened with a heavy past. The most eye-catching focal point in the entire image falls on her restrained hands and her long braid, conveying an extremely restrained sense of bondage.

Promeia - Fashion Style

Promeia's attire is also quite distinctive among the Agents. This outfit, reminiscent of a dormant bat with furled wings, actually originates from the architectural style known as "Brutalism." Promeia's clothes are, in fact, a typical Brutalist suit. After the core of Brutalism was adopted by the fashion world, its characteristics involve using architectural silhouette lines to create visual impact, employing simple geometric forms like straight lines, right angles, and blocks to emphasize volume and stability. The structure is exposed, with seams and joints not deliberately concealed.

Promeia's attire clearly and vividly showcases this style. The front has no excessive or complicated decoration. The shoulders extend upward and outward, forming a cantilevered, architectural-like structure that accentuates an intangible sense of pressure. The clothing and the body engage in a cold, hard collision. Silver chains, metal rings, rigid fabrics blend with a slender frame, delicate wrists, and fragile lines suppressed by heavy garments. The cold, industrial restraint tools cling to a pale, restrained human form, unifying an aloof, slightly morbid atmosphere.

As for the characteristic of exposure, the development team has its own interpretation. Beneath the suit, with no inner lining for modesty, it straightforwardly reveals a sheer, high-slit bodysuit. Isn't this a form of exposure in itself? This extends to Promeia's core, captivating trait—disguised restraint. Ordinary restraint often implies weakness, an external force imposed and overpowering. Promeia's restraint, however, is a self-imposed confinement, completely within her power to break free from.

"Actively choosing to restrain freedom" is the most fatal hook in the design. Looking solely at the artwork—the high collar fully covering, the stiff, matte, thick fabric, the linear, geometric cuts... it exudes a top-tier sense of asceticism, coldness, and detachment. You can only catch a glimpse of what seems like exposure behind the handcuffs. Fully revealing would be cliché, whereas suggestive, fragmented, hidden restraint provides ample room for the imagination.

Therefore, witnessing her instantly shatter the restraints and unleash explosive power in the story becomes incredibly impactful. When the iceberg-like shell fractures, her exposed form revealed, her expression still coldly captivating, we believe every Proxy has long been captivated by Promeia's allure.

Promeia - Name and Mythological Imagery

The name Promeia first brings to mind Prometheus from Greek mythology, and her passive skill is directly named "Thief of Flames." However, her character design can be seen as the opposite of the classic myth. Prometheus is the hero who stole fire from the gods for humanity, while Promeia is more of a "fire extinguisher."

Prometheus was chained to a mountain by Zeus, with an eagle pecking at his liver daily, enduring endless suffering imposed by an external force—pain endured for others. Promeia, on the other hand, has chained herself, imposing daily self-restraint and torment as punishment for her own sins.

At the same time, the moon element is one of Promeia's cores. Her outfit is printed with crescent moon patterns, her weapon is a pair of crescent-shaped throwing knives, and her skill effects are visually dominated by lunar arcs. The moon has always been associated with loneliness and cool aloofness in culture. Promeia is like a solitary moon in the night of New Eridu—cool, distant, and shining alone. When the lonesome moon encounters a "child of the sun" like the Proxy, one wonders what sparks will fly?

Zenless Zone Zero Promeia

The moon element brings to mind the moon goddess, Artemis. She is the goddess of the hunt, the virgin goddess, independent, cold, powerful, hunting alone in the forest, keeping no company. Another element is the bat, coming from the immediate visual impression of Promeia's outfit. The moment it's thrown in battle, it completely resembles a bat spreading its wings. In culture, bats symbolize night, death, and rebirth, perfectly corresponding to her life's path of execution in the night and seeking redemption in death.

There is actually another connotation from the moth, which reflects the essence of Promeia's character. A moth flying into a flame has always symbolized self-destruction, and Promeia is precisely that dying moth.

Promeia - Character Core

As a former cleaner in Calydon who carried out countless elimination missions, her hands are stained with blood, including that of innocent residents from the outer districts. This past is a nightmare she can never escape, and the root of her self-punishment.‘’

Zenless Zone Zero Promeia

Her ascetic-style self-restraint is, in essence, a self-imposed deprivation of identity. She has stripped herself of the rights of an ordinary person, turning herself into a pure execution tool—endless, numb, and cold. She believes she is unworthy of happiness, unworthy of forgiveness. Only through continuous execution can a sinner slightly lessen their own sins. At the same time, she awaits the judgment she deserves. The final hope for her life is death—warm and peaceful.

That concludes all the content for this Zenless Zone Zero Character Appreciation. Version 3.0 is just around the corner—how exciting! Many more characters await our future appreciation. If you enjoyed it, don't forget to keep following our in-site merchandise and articles. See you next time!
