Zenless Zone Zero Hoshimi Miyabi: Predestined Flower Standing Proudly in the Frost
With the new version comes the popular agent Hoshimi Miyabi. I wonder if any of you rope makers already own Ms. Miyabi? Interestingly enough, Miyabi's PV, EP are getting quite a bit of attention. Let's take a look at the design details of Hoshimi Miyabi today.
1. Hoshimi Miyabi Profile
Hoshimi Miyabi is the Chief of H.S.O.S.6. and the successor of a well-known Budokai family in New Eridu. With a strong sense of responsibility, Miyabi takes it upon himself to guard the principles and order of New Eridu, with the expectation of building an unbreakable system of city functioning and having an overflowing rack of sword collections.
There is an interesting point on Miyabi's identity information, Miyabi's height including ears is 170 centimeters, so proxies can guess Miyabi's real height.
2. Hoshimi Miyabi Character Appearance
The members of H.S.O.S.6. have a uniform design and color scheme, and so does Miyabi. However, they are not uniform, but rather unique. Let's take a look at Miyabi's appearance in conjunction with the character art!
Cyan, black, and white are the colors of Section 6, and it's easy to see that Miyabi's outfit is the most recognizable of the four, a blend of Japanese style and modern work uniforms. Miyabi's Japanese style is the most distinctive of the four.
So let's talk about those Japanese designs from Miyabi. If we strip away the complicated occupational elements, and from a modern perspective, Miyabi wears more of a "haori" and "hakama" combination.
"Haori" is a very classic Japanese dress, and since the game is set in "close modern times", the production team has added some functional details to this dress. The production team added some functional details to the Haori. Since Section 6 is similar to the military, they added epaulettes and a way to wear the Attila jacket. To make it look like it won't slip off easily, the chest strap is added. Within the framework of traditional Japanese clothing, the production team has once again shown their dedication to combining many details that are difficult to combine.
Miyabi's interior is a shirt and long pleated skirt, which is supposedly inspired by the "kendogi" and "hakama" worn during kendo practice. In-game Miyabi's top is a white shirt with a neat black tie, emphasizing her meticulous character. On the bottom, she wears a "hakama" that incorporates a pleated skirt design, giving Miyabi the look of both a Budokai and a young girl.
2.1 "Miko" elements
When you think of Miko, you think of shrines, and the hairpiece behind Miyabi's head is in the style of a torii, a symbol of the entrance to a shrine. The torii is a representative element of the shrine, representing the entrance to the divine realm and used to distinguish between the divine realm, where the gods reside, and the secular realm, where humans live. The design of the lower sheet of paper is inspired by the traditional culture of "Gohei". "Gohei" is a strip of paper or cloth that is dedicated to the gods in Shintoism. Since the Japanese words for "Paper" and "Kami" have the same pronunciation, they are often regarded as a symbol of the power of the Kami.

The same element is also found on Miyabi's weapon, and Yanagi's weapon also has torii related elements.
Zoom in on Miyabi's hairstyle, which is commonly known as the "Hime cut style". This hairstyle is commonly known as the "Hime cut", and it is characterized by long hair at the back, bangs on the forehead cut at eye-brow level in front, and the "ends" of the hair hanging in front of the ears cut to the level of the chin. The hairstyle and name came from the female nobility in the Heian Period, it's clear that the Hoshimi family holds a very high position in Old Captain Eridu.
In the official Q&A about Hoshimi Miyabi, we can tell that the production team struggled for a long time with "how to design the hairstyle" and "how to choose the length of the skirt". Despite the fact that long hair, a long skirt, and a cape would have multiplied the workload, they chose a long skirt that better suited Miyabi.
2.2 Miyabi's Outfit: Asymmetrical Clothing
Looking down, we can see the "asymmetrical design" favored by the production team, with only one arm cuff worn to facilitate the usual battle with the blade. On the other hand, the other hand is a more noticeable robotic arm, which is connected by a "rope" that is similar to the one that connects shrines and indicates boundaries. It's worth noting that Miyabi doesn't lose his arm. The arm is merely an external device to better utilize the weapon's power.
The small arm armor is noteworthy, with a distinctly old metal material with some red lines and a multi-layered structure that is directly reminiscent of the ancient Japanese "Great Armor", again a combination of modern and vintage.
Miyabi's belt is designed with two hands, because H.S.O.S.6.'s headquarters is called the Hollow Affairs & Neutralization Department, also known as H.A.N.D. So many of H.A.N.D.'s employees have "hand" designs on their clothing.
2.3. Thiren Related Designs
Continuing back to Shintoism, perhaps some of the proxies know that Japan often worships various animals as messengers of the gods. And Miyabi counterpart, the fox, is an immensely familiar presence in this. But how is it that Ellen and Lycaon, who are both Thirens, have their trademark tails, but why do Miyabi and her family members not have tails? Combined with the name "Ethereal-Slaying Katana: 'Tailless'", perhaps we'll know the answer. In Japanese mythology, there are many different kinds of foxes, and among them, there is exactly one kind of fox without a tail- the "くうこ". They are divine foxes that are over 3,000 years old and can use their divine power freely, and have no tails and appear as human beings. They have only ears, and have entered into an existence equivalent to that of a god. On this level, it also corresponds to Miyabi's latent power in the plot. All of these references to Shintoism point to Miyabi as a "Kami".
Interestingly, however, the "Eye Thiren" at Miyabi's side is actually a remnant of the energy of "Ethereal-Slaying Katana: 'Tailless'" that was sealed in a high Etheric concentration space. In battle, it returns to the blade and reveals the blade's true form in every move it makes.
3. Miyabi's Weapon Designs
3.1 Cursed Blade
The Cursed Blade is the most widely circulated rumor: ""Ethereal-Slaying Katana: 'Tailless'" was forged from the remnants of each family head's years of fighting against the infestation of the Hollow's back, along with the perfect body of the blade, starting from the first generation of Void Hunters. This blade is also the very key item in the plot, carrying a memory of a dusty past.
"Ethereal-Slaying Katana: 'Tailless'" is clearly a katana, and its smaller blade is closely tied to Miyabi's fighting style. In terms of design, the sheath portion of the blade forms a torii. The end of the grip is also designed to be a small torii, while having an industrial flavor. If we take a closer look, we will see that the grip has been wrapped with a lot of white cloth, which may be the patches that Miyabi put on the handle due to the wear and tear of the grip from years of holding it. This shows Miyabi's dedication and hard work to the art of swordsmanship.
3.2 Battoujyutsu
From the splendor of the movements, we can see that Miyabi mainly uses Battoujyutsu, which is centered on the idea of "killing with a single blow". The wearer utilizes an instantaneous, high-speed attack to deliver a surprise blow to the enemy. The technique of Battoujyutsu is not only limited to unsheathing the blade, but also includes subsequent attacks such as chopping and thrusting that follow after the sword is drawn. It is called Battoujyutsu simply because it begins with the drawing of the sword and the swinging of the blade, but in Japan today it is known as laido.
This can be seen in Miyabi's ultimate "Lingering Snow". The production team had Miyabi perform a series of moves such as slowing down, stopping, turning, pulling out and retracting the blade in less than 50 frames. In order to incorporate Miyabi's sharp and careful character into the moves, the production team designed up to 25 blade closing moves for Miyabi.
3.3 Frost Atrribute
When it comes to shaping the special effects for this attribute, it can't be a common fire, or it will inevitably fall into the roughness of color-changing flames. In keeping with this characterization of the overhead setting, the production team chose an unnatural, complex and bizarre representation of frost. In terms of color, Frost couldn't be a plain blue, but also took into account its qualities of containing Etheric energy. On top of the icy blue color, magenta and indigo of different brightness were added to create a complex and bizarre blue that is not often found in nature.
The edges of the Frost effect have been stylized to give it a more manga-like look and feel. This gives Miyabi's skills her own style.
4. Indissoluble Bound
From an early age, Miyabi has demonstrated her indissoluble bound with blades. Her mother, however, preferred that Miyabi grow up as an ordinary girl. Though somewhat comically, Miyabi was made to avoid all things knife-related in her life, including using all other types of weapons, no knives when peeling fruit, melons to be smashed open... But we can see that Miyabi continues to grow up happy. Her mom made up a variety of practices to accompany her during these fulfilling times. This became the origin of her regular trains today. At first glance, it seems that she is actually honoring her mother's memory by doing "training" that are difficult for people to understand.
The animated short ends with the rescued little girl shouting out a promise similar to the one Miyabi uttered as a child, which Miyabi hears and says nothing. She probably understands that she hasn't become a hero or lived the way her mother wanted her to. Maybe that's why she can't answer.

The imagery of flowers and winter is included in all of Hoshimi Miyabi's skills. Once a flower growing in the arms of her gentle mother, she was robbed of his spring in the fall of Old Captain and placed in a long cold winter. The day-to-day life that never returned turned her into a merciless blade, and the frost, while not as frightening as the heat of a blazing fire, could penetrate to the marrow of the bones and turn into a constant, indelible pain.
Such a deep cold blade is also precisely in exchange for more people to feel the peaceful spring, even if that spring has long since not belonged to themselves. To summarize, as Section 6's strongest character, the youngest Void Hunter. We can see that the production team has invested a lot of effort in Hoshimi Miyabi, and also deserves the love of every proxies.
